is a visual artist and designer with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. Sophie is devoted to celebrating queer Asian diasporic identity in her work, with interests in cyberfeminism and book arts. Their artistic approach often combines traditional and digital mediums while being influenced by their youth, bad movies, music, internet culture and what comes to them in their dreams.
The first project as co-founder and designer of the superblooom art collective. This zine addresses the lack of representation and scholarship of Southeast-Asian countries by highlighting and showcasing the Vietnamese creative scene. 2024
part machine / part girl is a wire-o bound publication featuring a collection of poetry by Franny Choi as well as a series of lenticular prints loosely following the story of a cyborg servant girl who becomes sentient and seeks revenge on her makers and keepers who have mistreated her. In the end she aims to forge her own identity and purpose away from the systems and constructs that held her. 2022
As The Anderson Web Publishing Grant recipients in 2020, I cofounded Chelo Chelo, a zine that celebrates Southeast Asian American creatives in Virginia. This project was completed over zoom during the peak of COVID-19 lockdown.2020
STONE is a collaborative publication detailing the sacred uses of stone in human history and art, from spirituality, earth art, Ancient Egypt and gravestones. It chronicles the grounding human relationships with Earth and how we used stone to build civilizations, spirituality, stories and memories, and how it lays with us in death. 2021
